Unforgettable monuments

The Sagrada Familia is a must-see monument in Barcelona. So much so, it is visited by hundreds of tourists every day. Declared a World Heritage Site by declared UNESCO in 2005, the unfinished temple by architect Antonio Gaudí is one of the greatest examples of European Modernism. In the neighbouring area, you can also explore the Modernist style of the Hospital de la Santa Creu y de Sant Pau, also declared a World Heritage Site in 1997.

During your stay, you can visit other architectural gems, such as the Cathedral of Barcelona and the Basilica de Santa María del Mar, the two Gothic icons of the city, as well as Modernist buildings such as Park Güell, Casa Milá and Casa Batlló, and one of the more cutting-edge of modern Barcelona’s symbols, the Agbar Tower.

Infinite appeal

In addition to its architecture, the Catalan capital also lays out before you a wealth of restaurants, shopping and cultural activities. We recommend checking out the shopping areas, sampling some of the fine examples of regional and international cuisine or letting yourself be carried away by the colours and flavours of the traditional Mercado de la Boquería. Then take a stroll down La Rambla or visit the FC Barcelona football stadium and museum.

The city’s attractions include a zoo, the Tibidabo Amusement Park, F1 and motorbike racing and a whole plethora of concerts and festivals, such as Sónar and Primavera Sound.

On the outskirts of the city, you can indulge in some retail therapy at Roca Village, the largest shopping outlet in Europe, or you can visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, the Montserrat Monastery or Port Aventura, the most-visited theme park in Spain. Or, if you prefer something a little more active, the area offers a wealth of different sporting activities.
